My personal favorite album of 2014 is:

Thyrien - Hymns of the Mortals

Can't stop listening to ( My Victory, My Defeat ; The Eternal Journey ). The feel of the album always gets me in a good mood. I blare the hell out of it in my car every morning going to class. The melodies are impeccable and epic, imho. If you like Melodic Death Metal / Folk Metal. Something you shouldn't pass up.

Behemoth - The Satanist

Both Behemoth's The Satanist and Cynic's New album are amazing (huge fan of both). But, Amputated's "Dissect, Molest, Ingest" is pretty brutal. Just something a little different.

Lizardia - Lizardia - Greek stoner metal. Pretty good thing.

Siegewyrm - Harvest Begins
(Melodic Death)

.. my favourite so far.

As someone already said, Woods Of Desolation - As The Stars is a pretty damn good album.

I'd also say Ered Wethrin - Tides of War, maybe not perfect, but it's another great US epic metal release in the vein of Caladan Brood and such.

I don't think anything else this year has been as good as Triptykon's Melana Chasmata.
