Phoenix Rizing was formed early 1996 by Tom Roger Piippo (vocals), Jack Roger Olsen (guitar and backing vocals) and Yngve Olsen (guitar), former members of Twilight Century since 1994. The line up was completed by Knut Egil Tøftum (bass) and Morten Færøvig (drums). The band played gigs locally and attracted the attention of Frode Øien, chief editor of Scream Magazine, who signed them to his label Face Front and released their debut album "Rise From The Ashes" in 1998. Lars Andre Larsen joined the band on keyboards, and the band released their follow up "Eternal Crusade" in 2000. The band split up in 2001, and the majority of the band continued as Highland Glory...but that's another story...

Phoenix Rizing performed a reunion gig with Highland Glory in 2006 to celebrate their 10 year anniversary, and at the Rebel Heart Rock Festival this year they will reunite once again to celebrate the bands 15 year anniversary!
