PURPOSEFUL PORPOISE is a band brought together by guitarist/vocalist/composer Alex CORA. Completing the group are drummer Vinnie COLAIUTA (Frank ZAPPA, Jeff BECK), keyboardist Derek SHERINIAN (DREAM THEATER, Yngwie MALMSTEEN), bassist Ric FIERABRACCI, and violinist Ginny LUKE (MEATLOAF, Dave MATTHEWS)
CORA's concept was to create an ensemble that could realize his vision of progressive rock with influences raging from GENESIS and Frank ZAPPA to Jeff BECK and Joni MITCHELL. The group plays all of their music live, in studio, to create a more spontaneous feel than track-by-track recording usually provides.
