Morthem Vlade Art is a French gothic band that was founded in 1995.
The band is a duo and operates from Paris. Emanuell D., writer and painter, devises the lyrics, while the music is composed by Gregg Anthe. Together they conceive an artistic story, which is elaborated in their albums, and varies stylistically from neoclassical to industrial. The numbers are stylized and subtle, so that each individual effect has a function. Their first album Herbo Dou Diable showed influences from death rock. They use synthetic deformations to create a strange, bizarre atmosphere; this sometimes makes the music quite inaccessible.
Organic but not Mental, which stood out through cinematic scenes, was named 'CD of the month' by Orkus. The subdued and serene album Antechamber strived for a strong minimalism, while Photography in Things sounded particularly new wave and synth pop-like. This album was made entirely with computers and synthesizers. Finally, Absente Thérébenthine formed a synthesis between acoustics and electronics, in a whole that can be regarded as experimental rock.
In 2007 a compilation album of the general work of Morthem Vlade Art was published.
