Answering your question, in the liner notes inside the new CD/Vinyl, Lenny Rutledge says: "The truth is we were a great thrash band but we could write great melodic songs as well". Thrash metal is a way to put it, given that time's options but I don't think Sanctuary can be labeled. They started something very unique.
