German black metal + ambient.
This is great music. I'm unsure where atmospheric ends and ambient begins, but it's mostly, in my opinion, heavy (atmospheric) black metal, with the atmospheric being optional at times. There's epicicity as well. Vocals are of the atmospheric epic style, a bit of clean, mostly raspy black, not quite the brutal angry sort - not that I've noticed, but I've been doing things while it plays - I may have missed some anger somewhere.. Really enjoyable, all around; I'm 2/3 through the discography, which has entertained me throughout the evening, and looking fwd to the remainder. Love it when a large discography turns out to also be very nice.
Edit: actually, it seems the black metal, and the ambient, are often separate tracks. And here, later in the discography, a bit more standard black metal angriness, and heaviness arrive. Great!
