I too enjoy pepper, but I've run out, and refuse to be extorted for more of the yummy black pellets. Something untoward is happening in the pepper industry; the price has quintupled, maybe sextupled, in a few months. Have we strip-mined all of the world's pepper - and now the supply is dwindling? Maybe pepper mill workers are on strike. Or, it's just common price fixing, this time by the capitalist pepper barrons. Maybe there's a--- ... Hm. Where was I?
I like the music too, and feel the retro effect, but especially, early; I wonder though, if the first few albums were a warmup of sorts.. These guys really found the gas pedal for 2013, in my opinion; Pioneers Of The Storm is like a suitcase nuke, versus the earlier albums' damp matches. Super crunchy guitar, solid bass, very fast nearly everything, and great sound. If ACDC played black thrash, it might sound like something this; but this would be heavier, faster & more evil.
Thank you, syntexid.
2015. . . Excepting the 1st & last tracks, a solid album; no version of ACDC would have sounded like this. There's even some brief deviating almost into actual black metal, for a few seconds here & there; overall though, very thrashy, good and potent.
2021. . . Crowned for Dust is chuggy, crushing & heavy, like bowling balls raining down. Excepting tracks #1 and the last again, this is a solid, intense, pounding album which for me has conjured memories of Exodus at times; and wow, the bass guitar is crazy - remember those weird noises the Terminator makes when he's chasing Sarah into the machine factory at the end? This album also conjures for me, memories of music circa Megadeth's Rust in Peace. Okay, Blue Water, you may be my favorite track on this album - you are something like a tiny Meddle, on 'roids. This album should have ended with the Darkness Inside. But, a very good album.
2023 ... <-- time for this one now --> and it gives us apokalyptik heaviness, avalanche-like double-bass drumming, solid intensity everywhere, including the vocals. Wonderful!
Perhaps there'll be another album from this gang? !!
Thus far, 2021 is my favorite, followed by a tie between 2023 and 2021.
New album! 2026 --> Doomed Ancient Rites! <-- LINK
