Interesting mix of sounds in here.. The first half of the disc is very groovy, very heavy, and chunky. It's slightly death metally; perhaps the vocals make me think that.
I didn't think "modern" as I was listening -- if I had noticed "modern" on this offering, I probably would not have tried it.
The second half of the gets rather metalcore-y, which I figure is the "modern" stuff? Well, track 5 sounded like a cover of someone (or merely sounded like that someone), but I don't know who.
I am reminded of A.I.L.D. a llittle bit as well, during some of the semi-clean melodic sections.
Overall I like it. If I don't care for a bit of the Modern, I can live with that. And I love the bass guitar in here -- it sounds as tall as a utility pole, and strung with wire rope -- very springy, and often very prominent. On its own merits, as I'm not good with this genre, I give it 8++ / 10 and I'll be listening to it again... Into the collection you go..
