These guys didn't quite have things come together until, in my opinion, 2009. The earlier albums, a mixture of splits, demos, compilations, lack good sound, not enjoyable, don't sound good.
Skipping ahead to 2009...
2009 Violent Revenge has satisfactory sound, and the group sounds decent; they've been practicing for many years, so they're pretty good now. This music is fine - we have some speedy & gnarly classic-ish thrash to bang our heads into.
2010 Compilation... No big complaints. Band sounds good; live tracks sound decent. Vocalist is quite good.
2011 EP... 2 tracks; comparable to 2010; the non-Bathory track is on the next album anyway.
2014... Now we're storming evil; a solid album of quick, angry & thrashy. Good sound & good music.
2020 Split... Preventive War, an older track; and a Destruction cover. Solid sound, not bad. The other group, Nuctemeron, is also decent, and their first track deviates into some sort of Slayer segue, I think; might want to look into that. Their second track begins like a Black Sabbath cover, then veers off sharply in a black thrashy direction. Not bad!
2021... For the win! Awesome, full torque! Riffy, melodic, fast, great sound, it's perfect - almost like a new band!
Now that they've solidified, and created this excellent 2021 album (the production sound of which reminds me of Hell Awaits), I hope we've not heard the last of these Nocturnal Germans!
High marks for 2009+ and I can do without the earlier ones.
