Cerebus - Too Late To Pray (Reissued 2006)

It was about time this U.S. Metal album was reissued. Originally released by New Renaissance Records in 1986 this is the first (and only) LP of these Americans after some demos and a participation in the legendary “Satan’s Revenge” compilation LP. The band later released two EP’s, “Like a Banshee on the Loose” (1987, cassette-EP) and the “Regression/Progression” EP (1990).

The original album contains 8 songs ranging from plain just Metal tracks (“Rock the House Down”) to amazing Power Metal songs like “Running out of Time”, “Too Late to Pray”, “Distant Eyes” etc. The bonus tracks included are: “She Burns” (previously only available in the European version of the LP from U.S. Metal Records) and “Stay in the Night”, “Like a Banshee on the Loose”, “Easy Money” and “All Night Long” (all 4 songs of the “Like a Banshee on the Loose” EP). We also find “Change for the Worse” and two unnamed tracks.

This is a recommended buy for all U.S. Metal fans. If you want my opinion, “Too Late to Pray” is a much underrated LP since very few Metalheads seem to know and talk about it. The bonus tracks and the very good booklet (with lyrics and a very good biography by the band’s drummer Scott Board) make it even more appealing.
