Originating in Champaign, Illinois Tummler was formed in 1996 by guitarist/vocalist Brad Buldak and drummer Jay Vance. Inspired by the heaviest sounds emanating from the ‘60's and ‘70's, including the likes of Black Sabbath and Iron Butterfly, the band gradually built their doom/stoner rock repertoire in local clubs before recording a three song demo in 1999. Also counting with guitarist Cas and bassist Dr. Hill by now, the group then signed with the Mans Ruin label and unleashed their amazingly heavy Queen to Bishop VI debut album in June 2000. But the troubled independent label soon folded and two years would pass before a re-vamped Tummler (now featuring new members Ryan Jerzak on guitar and Ginchy on bass) scored a new deal with Detroit's Small Stone and cut their long-delayed sophomore album Early Man, released at the tail end of 2002.(Eduardo Rivadavia)
